Increasing Access to Care in Rural NC

I have enjoyed working as the Farmworker Health Program Coordinator at Jones County Health Department for the past couple of years. However, in order to effectively represent the population that I serve, my language skills must be improved, which is why I am going to language school. My work has been supported by the North Carolina Farmworker Health Program (NCFHP), and has allowed me to reach out to the rural, underserved population of migrant and seasonal farmworkers in Jones and surrounding counties. It is only through building a good team that this mission has been accomplished. In this photo my co-worker and Outreach Nurse, Carrie, and I are pictured next to a mobile clinic. We have been blessed to have a collaborative relationship with Dr. Mark Heffington of Vecinos, Inc. who sees patients in the mobile clinic, which has greatly increased access to care.
