- I am a wife, mother, nurse, and graduate student. I love traveling and learning about different cultures. Six years ago when I started working at Pitt County Memorial Hospital(PCMH)I had no idea how large the Latino population was. I had only had 5 years of French, with very little chance to use it. I started carrying a pocket notebook so that I could write down phrases that my patients would say. I was also very blessed to have a co-worker from Honduras who would help me to learn. My motivation for learning Spanish is my patients. I love helping people and communicating with them, so learning their culture and language was, and is a must. Learning a language takes years, and immersion into a culture/language is the best way to learn. I am so thankful to have a very loving and supportive family who understands the meaning of sacrifice and service for others.
